Chameleon's Colors

1st Grade: Chameleon's Colors

I read Chameleon's Colors by Chisato Tashiro to my kinder and 1st graders. They loved this delightful story of how all the animals in the jungle wanted to change colors just like Chameleon. Chameleon decided to make their wish come true and paint them with squished juice from all the jungle plants. However, trouble came when lion couldn't find his lunch anymore...zebra's strips were not black and white anymore. Snake couldn't hide in the grass from her enemies..she was bright red! All the animals got quite made at poor chameleon. Thank goodness a thunderstorm saved the day and washed all the bright colors away.

Students loved painting Chameleon from this story and designing a jungle for him to live in.
1st graders created a "square" or "circle/oval" pattern on Chameleon and created secondary colors from primaries on all Chameleon's spots. Students used tissue paper to create jungle plants and flowers.

This chameleon is well hidden!
