2nd- Robots

2nd Grade: Cool Robots

2nd graders reviewed geometric shapes a bit on a flip chart. We also talked about bi-lateral symmetry. We had fun creating a shape robot that was symmetrical on the flip chart. We even looked at some pictures of real world robots including a robot that could play soccer, play the violin, and cook! Robots are very useful. Important robots can even assist with surgery, build cars and do many other kinds of amazing engineering feats. Students had a chance to create their own geometric robots. Students used colored papers, oil pastels and glitter to create their masterpiece. Many of the robot pieces (head, shirt, shorts, etc) we did some basic step-by-step instructions on. The main idea was folding a paper in half and cutting out a shape, then unfolding, so the finished product was symmetrical. Students could add accessories and decorate to personalize their robot. I think this was a great way to end the year with 2nd grade!

Look at these amazing robots!
