Kinder-Silly Birds

Kinder: Silly Birds

This project incorporated a lot of different techniques. We talked about shapes like circle and semi-circle.We also talked in depth about different lines-straight, curvy, zig zag, dashed, even "castle and "scalloped".
Students drew a semi circle shape 3x on white cardstock. (a large semi-circle) on 8 x 11 card, a medium on a half a card, and a small (the baby bird) on one fourth of a card. We talked about straight line to begin, and then a large "smile" to connect. Students added wing (another smaller semi-circle and eye (even smaller semi-circle). Students added various lines to the bird. The "white" part of the eye was colored in with white oil pastel, the black part of sharpie marker. Students added color to the wings with oil pastel and traced the lines with oil pastel (free color choice). Students painted the birds with liquid watercolor. On another day, students cut the birds out, glued them on, added legs/feet with sharpie, glued on 2 feathers for a tail. Students also glued on fabric pieces for the ground. This projects took a LONG time it seemed. About a month to complete. However, these are very nice and kinder students learned a lot of art elements and principles in one project!

Yay, kinder!
